Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at jgerres@spiritsatrest.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Before the treatment center opened, Montgomery, Minnesota had a reputation as the "city on meth." Jeremy Gerres, now the owner of Spirits at Rest, was already running another business in Montgomery. As someone in long-term recovery from drugs and alcohol, he saw the growing need for help in his community. When the opportunity came, he opened Spirits at Rest to provide drug and alcohol treatment services because there were no local options available.

 Drug and Alcohol addiction.

Blue Earth County has a large population and does not have a residential facility in its boarders.

At Spirits at Rest, we are proud to be recovery focused. Our staff members are all in recovery themselves and use their personal experience and knowledge to help others on their journey to recovery.

In addition, our staff also have the education and credentials needed to support each client’s individual needs.

Our goal is to help each client become the best version of themselves. As they grow in recovery, they become stronger family members and positive members of their community.

We help people who are struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. We also provide support for those dealing with mental health challenges, helping them on their journey to a healthier life.

Services that will be offered at the residential facility in Mankato, Minnesota include twelve-step programming, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy skills, trauma informed therapy, and several other modalities of therapy. Important part of the services that will be offered will be client centered. The importance of client-centeredness allows individuals to meet their own individual needs, in order to gain the outcome of sobriety and will skills to use to help them with any mental health issues.

After completing our 30-day treatment program, each client has a plan based on their needs. Some are ready to return home and continue their recovery through support groups like AA, NA, or CoDA. Others move into our outpatient program with housing in Montgomery, Minnesota, where they spend 6 to 12 months building the skills needed for long-term recovery. We also help clients with real-life challenges, including getting their driver's license back, working with the court system and probation officers, earning their GED, enrolling in college, and navigating everyday life as they build a healthy, sober future.

Our clients' safety is a top priority. Our staff is trained through the Department of Human Services to provide a safe and supportive environment. Our facility has security cameras, 24-hour security staff, and trained medical staff on site around the clock. Providing a safe place for recovery is just as important as the treatment we offer.

Clients are asked to check out with a staff member before leaving the facility. This gives us a chance to offer support and help address any concerns they may have. If a client still chooses to leave, we can provide transportation to the Mankato Crisis Center, the Blue Earth County Government Center, or one of our community partners. For added safety, all exit doors are locked and alarmed so staff are aware if someone attempts to leave without checking out.

Our first goal is to help people overcome drug and alcohol addiction and build healthier lives. We will also provide a welcoming meeting space for recovery support groups that are important for long-term sobriety, including AA, NA, Red Road to Sobriety, Women's Path in Recovery, CoDA, SMART Recovery, and many others.

At Spirits at Rest, we measure success by seeing our former clients continue their recovery. Nothing means more to us than meeting a past client at an AA, NA, or other recovery meeting and hearing about the progress they have made. We are proud to have been part of their journey and to help them become the best version of themselves.

We want our clients to say that recovery helped them find themselves and experience life in a whole new way. Nothing makes us happier than hearing about families being reunited, new relationships, a new home, a new job, or reaching other personal goals. Seeing our clients build happy, healthy lives is the greatest measure of our success.
